The Theatre of Dreams….. where mine came true.

So after all these years… a few hits and misses…. I finally did it. I made it down to Old Trafford : The Theatre of Dreams to watch a team that I’ve supported since I was a young man, play live.

I’ll skip all the nitty gritty details and get straight to the juicy parts.

So essentially, not only did I get to watch Manchester United play against and beat Sunderland 2-0, I got to meet Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt.  I saw Phil Neville come in but didn’t get to take a picture with him or speak to him.  A bit of waste because I was being considerate and didn’t want to interrupt him. Good grief, what was I thinking. duh! Which explains my rushed selfie with Giggs before he got well and truly mobbed by the other fans when he came down to say hi.

With Scholes, Butt and Neville

Giggs

I was really grateful for the complimentary tickets from Giggs himself, which I have to admit was a whole lot better than the ticket that I actually bought.

Going through the friends and family entrance brought me right next to the tunnel about 7 rows from the front! I was misty eyed and unfortunately that was caught on camera, on video. *facepalm*

Misty eyed

Seeing Rooney run towards our corner to celebrate his first goal (I had it all recorded by the way) was the icing on the cake and I actually even managed to get at least 9 United players in one picture!

9 players in one picture!

A special part of the day was being taken on a tour of the brand spanking new Hotel Football UK. It is a lovely football themed hotel just beside The Theatre of Dreams. For a huge football fan, it would be the hotel of dreams. It is the home of the Old Trafford Supporters Club, has a rooftop that can be converted into a futsal pitch called Heaven, wallpaper of players past and present, as well toiletries that feature the jersey numbers of the Class of 92.

If you are a huge Manchester United fan, I do suggest you get your tickets and stay right next to the theatre of dreams at Hotel Football UK. There is nothing like opening your curtains and seeing the stadium right outside your window. The food and drinks served in the restaurant is real quality as well.

So I do have to say as a parting shot, if you have always been a fan and have always wanted to visit the Theatre of Dreams, do it. Put it on your bucket list. You will just have to ….
