Date: 3rd March 2013
Place: Millenia Walk
Race: The North Face Singapore City Race 2013
It’s 0715 hrs and the Yellow Fellows gather at the carpark at Suntec for their very first race. We were excited to finally embark on this quest to raise funds for the Singapore Cancer Society. We were raring to go. This is the only race that would require us to start as a team and finish as a team.
This race is also being organised for the very first time so no one had any idea what to expect. We were just going to go out there and have fun.
We got to the reporting station and waited for the solo runners for the mid distance to flag off before we were allowed in to the starting pens. So, while waiting, we decided to take a couple of team pictures.
In no time at all, we were given our maps and allowed into the start area. Like the other teams, we planned our route, and slowly made our way near the starting line. 5 checkpoints to find over a distance of approximately 20km. It definitely was daunting but we were going to have fun. The 5 checkpoints were Fort Canning, Ion, Alkaff Bridge, Museum of Mint Toys, and Henderson Wave.
At the first checkpoint – Museum of Mint Toys
At our third checkpoint – Ion Orchard
At the finish line and another one.

We started really well and before we knew it, we were making our way to our last checkpoint… Henderson Wave. We got our last sticker and started the long (about 8-9km) run back to the finish line which started with a downhill run down Mt Faber. The sun was beating down and we had to make a few more pitstops than we had anticipated but we just plugged on knowing that this would be the longest race distance on our schedule.
Finishing the race together made it all the more sweeter for all of us. We completed it and were one step closer to our goal. Leaving us with 9 races more to go!

We thank you all in advance especially our sponsors Adidas and Quirky.
