The third installment for the Singtel Singapore Night race has come and gone.
This year, Mel and I decided to catch the race from the comfort of our home and didn’t buy any tickets. Last year, if you remember, we bought and went for all three days of the Night Race and had loads of fun. You can read that post here.
So this year, I was really honored when the good people of Lenovo asked me to host a special meet and greet session with Lewis Hamilton. What? Are you serious? Of course I would!! I even got to ask him questions that I came up with (with approval of course).
The event itself was called “The Lenovo Up Close and Personal with Lewis Hamilton”. They had some really cool netbooks available for bloggers to update their blogs and for others to update their own social networking sites right there at the event itself. The people from Lenovo also had a whole array of products on display like their Ideapads and Thinkpads. Very powerful machines, and very easy on the eye as well.
Meeting Lewis Hamilton and getting to speak to him was a really awesome experience and I really could not have asked for more.
But… there was more! At the end of the event, both Mel and I were invited to watch the race from the Padang Grandstand together with the good people from Lenovo. We were super excited and couldn’t wait for Sunday to come by. The smell of the rubber, the roar of the engines, the chance to watch the cars zoom past live really gets the heart rate going. It was also a plus that we would be able to catch Mariah Carey performing after the race!
So, on Sunday, Mel and I, armed with our cameras, ponchos, and tickets, made our way to the meeting point for a small little reception and to collect our kangaroo tvs (those small little handheld tvs that will allow us to follow all the action on the track). When we finally got the to track, you could already feel the buzz and excitement that only comes with the Formula 1 Grand Prix. After exploring the Padang, buying some merchandise and food, we made our way to our seats for the start of the race.
Only when we got to our seats did we realize that we had really awesome seats…. this was the view we had…
I did manage to get a couple of decent shots of the drivers in their cars and I want to share my two favorite shots of the night…
This was Hamilton while he was still racing… I did manage to get a decent shot of him thankfully.
.. and this one was of Webber waving to the crowd at the end of the race.
We ended off the night with some Mariah Carey and made our way back home still buzzing from the day’s activities. Once again, a big thank you to Serene and all at Lenovo for a great F1 experience.
psst! Did you know?
Lenovo is the official sponsor for Vodafone Maclaren Mercedes Team. They provide all the computer systems for the team. How cool is that?!
