Finally! After last year’s fiasco…. Mel and I are going to the Singapore Grand Prix!
We got our tickets the very first day they released them and boy! did we look forward to the first day of practice.
As usual, we managed to score some invites to the RedBull party and, as an added treat, we also got invited to a pit tour! SCORE! Unfortunately, as with all good things, there are bad things. We did get to watch the race, we did get to go for the pit tour, we did get invited to parties, BUT, we could not be at two places at the same time…. we had to skip F1 Rocks as well as the stellar acts that were performing.
I know for a fact that Mel was dying to catch some of the acts but we just could not make it for everything (plus, my wallet would have hurt really badly, hehe). We also made it for the Johnny Walker Jet Black Party @ One on the bund as well as the Fuel party that was held at the National Museum. I must say, I am no longer the party person I used to be, by the end of the night, I was just too tired to do anything except think about going home and putting my feet up and catching the z-monster.
Going back to the pit tour, it was a great experience compounded with the fact that Mel and I managed to get a picture with Vettel and Webber in the RedBull hospitality suite, that made it just perfect! Our seats at the Bay Grandstand were good too! Unfortunately, we were almost always blocked by people who seemed to think that it was alright to walk, stop directly in front of other people, and take pictures. I mean, geez people! don’t you know that there are people behind you who trying to watch what’s happening on the track too?
Mel and I caught all three days! 1st practice, 2nd practice, 3rd practice, Qualifying, the driver’s parade and the race itself. We would have loved to watch the support races as well but the thought of baking in the afternoon sun was unbearable to begin with. So, we gave it a miss.
The whole weekend was an experience that I would never forget, not in a million years. So that’s another thing that’s been checked off my list…. what’s next?
It was truly an unforgettable weekend!
ps. The green and black shades that I was wearing are the new Jawbones from Oakley too! Thanks Joey!
