The tickets had been booked way ahead of time and the trip was confirmed for some time already.
There was no backing out of this one trip that was one that I was going to remember for a long time. But before I could sit back and relax and “go on holiday” , I had to work and Boy! did I work hard.
Basically, I didn’t have time to pack until two days before the trip and I didn’t wrap my shoot until just a day before I left for the trip. And in between all that, I was helping Mel with the spring cleaning before Chinese New Year and making sure we got in the visits to the grandmothers to pay our respects as well as to wish them before we left. This was the first time I was going to be away for the Lunar New Year and I wanted to make sure that I covered all the bases.
Having said that, I really have to be thankful for the wonderful wife that I have cos she made sure that I really didn’t have to worry too much about the spring cleaning cos she did most of it even though she knew she had allergies to dust as well as certain detergents. Thank you baby, I love you.
So work just went on and on till I really didn’t know what day, what date and what time it was….. I was actually that zombified. Don’t get me wrong, I loved every working day I had. It was a great project to be working on, and I definitely had loads of fun. It really helps that I love my job, so waking up early and working 12 hour days even on the eve of the New Year, really wasn’t a problem for me.
I was so busy that I really didn’t have much time to spend with my sis and her three boys who were down for the Christmas holidays as well as the New Year. Whatever free time I had, was spent at my parents house where they were staying so that I didn’t miss out much of their stay here.
Well, having said all that, I did eventually get everything done, finished my projects and I finally left early in the morning for that long awaited holiday with my wife and my in laws to the land of a thousand smiles (or was it more than a thousand?)
First thing I had to learn to say was…. SAWASDEE KAP!
